Google Apps, was that a "dumb blonde" joke?
|
On CNNMoney.com, Jonathan Blum writes about his small business' transition to Google Apps in order to test out the collaboration software.[The Hidden cost of Google Apps, Nov 19th]. He loves the collaboration tools but he and his team got tangled up with the logins. The article caught my eye because I had the same experience recently when JetBrains changed their mechanism for keeping track of raffle winners (they generously donate raffles to their products to user groups) to leverage Google Apps. I spent about 15 minutes trying to log in because I had an a/c with Google from a long time ago when I was testing out Google Ads. I actually have a few winners to add in and have hesitated going back into the app because I can't remember how I finally resolved the login and didn't want to get stuck again. Google responds that this is going to be the price of living with apps in the cloud. Not just their apps, either. But why the "dumb blonde" joke? In his assessment, Blum says that Google Apps "is sexy, but it has a tendency to get confused". It was my own sick mind that made the leap to the potential joke. If this is really what life in the cloud is going to be like, I don't think the joke will be so funny after all. |
