Update your apps to Silverlight RC and some Silverlight Error Codes

If you have been working with the Silverlight 1.0 Beta, you may or may not have noticed that the Release Candidate (RC) was recently deployed and that the Beta stopped working as of today.

To get your existing Beta apps working again (believe me, they will break!), you need to get the updated version, the new SDK and then you need to go through the breaking changes list.

Tim Sneath's blog post is a good place to start getting what you need to updgrade.

They are pretty simple change to make, just be sure to be thorough.

I accidentally skipped over one and it took me a while to get to the bottom of the error that my app was throwing!

In searching for a solution to this error (prior to realizing that the fix was right in the breaking changes list), I found this great blog post by Benjamin Nitschke, describing reasons for and fixes to a number of Silverlight errors. While the compiler is helpful with a lot of mistakes you might make in XAML, pointing out the exact position of your error, Silverlight is not quite as helpful with generic errors that give you no clue where to even start looking.

I have a feeling that Benjamin paid a lot of time and sweat coming up with this list!

You will notice that in the comments to his blog post, I added my own reason for getting the 2210 error for his list.
