VS2008 SP1 Update Update

In my last post, Installing VS2008 SP1? Do your homework first!, I promised I would fill you in on my own update experience.

I finally bit the bullet today and updated both my laptop and my dev box.

I had no problems at all. The VS2008 RTM disk was never requested.

On one machine the preparation tool that does the cleanup took 45 minutes, on the other it took about 10.

I reinstalled Silverlight 2 tools using the chainer after the fact with no issues and so far everything seems golden.

So... phew! I guess doing my homework paid off. :-)

See my previous post for all of the tips, tricks and links!

Considering what I went through with the SP1 Beta Install (14 hours straight through the night trying to install before heading off to a conference on a morning flight and no success at all), I guess I deserved an easy install this time!

(And yes, "Update Update" was intentional.)
