But you said you were going to talk about Silverlight
|
Hi everyone! I know over the past couple weeks I've said I'm going to be talking about Silverlight in my blog. And, as you can see, I haven't. Why is that? Because things are changing, and I'm putting together some material, hoping to keep up with all the new Silverlight things Microsoft is putting out. What things am I talking about? Well, for starters, Microsoft already has two different versions of Silverlight. (In truth, as we all know, many software shops have multiple versions in development at any time; while version 5.0 of something is in beta, there might be a team in place already working on the new 6.0 features.) Silverlight 1.0 is in Beta, and it's much like the WPF/E that people have been trying out. But 1.0 is somewhat limited, and Microsoft is well aware of many of the suggestions coming in from people. And so believe it or not, Microsoft has already released an alpha build of version 1.1. Version 1.1 will have many more features that people are expecting from Silverlight, features that are extremely important if the product will be successful. (Take a look at this page to see the list of important features it will have; scroll down to the section on Silverlight 1.1: http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2007/05/07/silverlight.aspx) So watch here; I'll have some Silverlight programming samples and tutorials going shortly. Stay tuned! Jeff |
